How to Streamline Twitter to RocketChat Mention Alerts?

Keep your team on top of brand mentions without watching Twitter all day. Every new mention is posted into your RocketChat channel so marketing and community teams can reply fast. Great for brand monitoring and quick outreach.

A one minute schedule starts a Twitter search for your handle or keyword. The flow keeps only tweet text, id, and a link so messages stay clear and useful. A memory step compares tweet ids and sends forward only new items to prevent repeats. The message in RocketChat includes the tweet content and a direct link so the team can act right away. You can also run a quick manual test before turning on the schedule.

Connect your Twitter and RocketChat accounts in n8n, pick the channel, and set the search text to your brand. Expect fewer missed mentions and faster replies while saving time compared to checking feeds by hand. Ideal for small marketing teams and community managers who need a simple alert system that runs all day without effort.

What are the key features?

  • Runs every minute with a schedule trigger to catch mentions quickly
  • Searches Twitter for a chosen handle or keyword
  • Keeps only tweet text, id, and a shareable URL for clean messages
  • Filters out old tweets using workflow memory so no duplicates appear
  • Sends a formatted message to a selected RocketChat channel
  • Supports a manual test run before enabling the schedule
  • Editable search term and channel for easy adaptation

What are the benefits?

  • Reduce manual checking from 30 minutes to 2 minutes per day
  • Automate 100 percent of scanning for brand mentions on Twitter
  • Eliminate up to 90 percent of missed mentions with near real time alerts
  • Connect Twitter and RocketChat so updates reach the right channel
  • Handle high mention volume without adding staff or extra steps

How do you set it up?

  1. Import the template into n8n: Create a new workflow in n8n > Click the three dots menu > Select 'Import from File' > Choose the downloaded JSON file.
  2. You'll need accounts with Twitter and RocketChat. See the Tools Required section above for links to create accounts with these services.
  3. Open the Twitter node and connect your account. In the credential dropdown, click Create new credential, then follow the on screen steps to sign in and authorize access. If asked for keys, get them from the Twitter developer portal and paste them in.
  4. Open the RocketChat node and connect your workspace. In the credential dropdown, click Create new credential, then follow the on screen steps. Provide your server URL and authentication details from your RocketChat account settings.
  5. In the Twitter node, set the search text to your brand handle or keyword. Keep it simple, for example @yourbrand or your product name.
  6. Review the Set node fields. It should keep tweet text, tweet id, and tweet URL so messages stay short and useful.
  7. Leave the Function node as is to filter only new tweets. This memory step prevents repeat alerts in your channel.
  8. In the RocketChat node, choose the target channel such as general and review the message format. Make sure the text includes both the tweet content and the link.
  9. Test the flow. Click Execute Workflow in the editor, then run the Twitter node to fetch results and confirm a message posts in RocketChat.
  10. Activate the workflow so the schedule runs every minute. Watch the channel for the next mention to confirm it posts only once.
  11. If no messages appear, check the Twitter search term, verify credentials, and confirm your RocketChat channel name and permissions. If duplicates appear, make sure you did not change the search query between runs and keep the Function node enabled.
