How to Automate YouTube to Raindrop Content Curation?

Save new videos from a chosen YouTube playlist straight into Raindrop with no manual work. Great for marketers who collect industry clips, competitor updates, or training content. Fresh links land in your bookmarks within about 30 minutes.

The run can start on a schedule or by a quick manual test. It pulls playlist items from YouTube, keeps only the useful snippet fields, and remembers which videos were saved before. Only new videos move forward. Each one becomes a Raindrop bookmark with the full YouTube link, a clean title that pairs the channel name with the video title, and a youtube tag. Your collection stays organized and easy to search.

Setup is simple. Add your playlist ID, connect YouTube and Raindrop, and enable the schedule. Expect strong time savings because you stop checking channels and copying links by hand. This is helpful for weekly roundups, social planning queues, competitive watch lists, and internal learning hubs. Results include faster content capture, fewer misses, and consistent titles your team can scan quickly.

What are the key features?

  • Two triggers for control: run every 30 minutes or run on demand
  • YouTube node collects playlist items and reads snippet data
  • JSON is flattened to snippet fields to make mapping simple
  • Filter step remembers past video IDs and only passes new videos
  • Raindrop node creates bookmarks with link, youtube tag, and a clean title
  • Secure connections using OAuth credentials for both services

What are the benefits?

  • Reduce manual work from 30 minutes a day to under 2 minutes
  • Automate 100 percent of new video captures from chosen playlists
  • Prevent duplicate bookmarks by tracking saved video IDs
  • Keep titles consistent with channel name and video title format
  • Connect YouTube and Raindrop so curation happens in one place
  • Scale to follow long playlists without extra effort

How do you set it up?

  1. Import the template into n8n: Create a new workflow in n8n > Click the three dots menu > Select 'Import from File' > Choose the downloaded JSON file.
  2. You'll need accounts with YouTube and Raindrop. See the Tools Required section above for links to create accounts with these services.
  3. Open the YouTube node in n8n. In the Credential to connect with dropdown, click Create new credential, then follow the on screen steps to sign in with your Google account and approve YouTube Data API access. Give the credential a clear name so your team can recognize it.
  4. Open the Raindrop Bookmark node. In the Credential to connect with dropdown, click Create new credential, sign in to Raindrop, and approve access. Name the credential so it is easy to reuse.
  5. In the YouTube node settings, set Resource to playlistItem, Operation to getAll, and Part to snippet. Paste your playlist ID in the Playlist ID field. You can find the ID after list= in your playlist URL.
  6. Review the Cron node. It is set to run every 30 minutes. Adjust the interval if you want faster or slower checks, then keep the node enabled.
  7. Click Execute workflow to run a quick test. Check the output of the YouTube and Filter new items steps to confirm items are found and only new videos pass through.
  8. Open Raindrop and confirm new bookmarks appear with the youtube tag and the title format Channel Name | Video Title. Run the test again to confirm duplicates are not created.
  9. Turn the workflow Active so the schedule runs in the background. Watch the next scheduled run to confirm it completes without errors.
  10. If you change to a new playlist and want to reset the saved IDs, duplicate the workflow to start fresh or clear stored data by replacing the credential names and saving. If no items appear, recheck the playlist ID and confirm the YouTube credential has access to the playlist.
