How to Automate Google Sheets Funding Lead Sourcing?

Turn fresh funding news into ready to use lead lists. Sales and growth teams get a daily sheet of companies that raised Seed, Series A, or Series B so they can reach out first with the right message.

A daily schedule calls three data pulls to fetch yesterday’s funding rounds. Results are split into single items and key fields are shaped, like round type, amount in USD, and announcement date. A company enrichment step adds website and social links. A small code step extracts the LinkedIn URL. The data is cleaned again, then merged so each company’s base info matches its enriched info. Finally, rows are added or updated in Google Sheets, giving one clear view that is easy to filter and share.

You need a Piloterr API key and access to a Google account. Expect a new set of rows each day, with clean fields ready for email, calls, and ads. Teams use it to spot hot accounts, plan outreach based on round size, and trigger follow up within 24 hours. Setup takes minutes and removes hours of manual research every week.

What are the key features?

  • Daily schedule runs the data collection automatically
  • Pulls three funding types in parallel Seed, Series A, and Series B
  • Splits API results into single rows so each company is processed cleanly
  • Maps core fields like round type, amount in USD, and announcement date
  • Company enrichment adds website and social profile data
  • Code step extracts the LinkedIn URL from the enriched object
  • Merges base data and enriched fields so each row is complete
  • Appends or updates rows in Google Sheets to avoid duplicates

What are the benefits?

  • Reduce manual research from 2 hours to 10 minutes per day
  • Automate 90% of repetitive lead sourcing work
  • Improve data accuracy by pulling direct from a single source
  • Connect data collection and storage in one flow
  • Handle daily updates for Seed, Series A, and Series B at once

How do you set it up?

  1. Import the template into n8n: Create a new workflow in n8n > Click the three dots menu > Select 'Import from File' > Choose the downloaded JSON file.
  2. You'll need accounts with Google Sheets and Piloterr. See the Tools Required section above for links to create accounts with these services.
  3. In the n8n credentials manager, connect your Google Sheets account. Double click the Google Sheets node, choose the credential dropdown, click Create new credential, then follow the on screen steps to log in and grant access.
  4. Create your Piloterr API key in your Piloterr dashboard under the API page. Keep the key handy for the next step.
  5. Open each Piloterr HTTP Request node. In the Credential to connect with dropdown, click Create new credential. Choose HTTP Header Auth, add a header for your API key as shown in Piloterr docs, and save.
  6. Review the query parameters in the three funding nodes. Days since announcement is set to 1 and investment types are Seed, series_a, and series_b. Adjust if you want a different window or rounds.
  7. Open the Google Sheets node. Replace the document link and sheet name with your own spreadsheet. Make sure the sheet has headers that match the mapped fields.
  8. Run the workflow once manually to test. Confirm new rows appear in your sheet with round type, amount, announcement date, website, and LinkedIn URL.
  9. If no data appears, check your Piloterr credentials, confirm your API key is active, and verify the headers are set correctly. Try widening the days since announcement value to 7 for a first sync.
  10. Enable the Schedule Trigger so it runs daily. Monitor the next day’s run and confirm new rows are added or updated without duplicates.
